After being closed for nearly 3 years, the Manitou Pikes Peak Cog Railway is open for business again! Purchased by the Broadmoor Hotel and then closed for renovations. They have now reopened with newly remodeled trains, track, cog and depot, and are now called the “Broadmoor Manitou and Pikes Peak Cog Railway”.
The train will take you up to the top of Pikes Peak, America’s Mountain, to the summit of 14,115 feet. While Kathrarine Lee Bates was at the pinnacle of Pikes Peak in 1893 she was so inspired and wrote the words to one of America’s most patriotic songs “America the Beautiful”. You can see a memorial of this at the summit of Pikes Peak.
The summit of Pikes Peak is truly one of the most spectacular views you will ever see!
And while you’re there, try some of the famous piping hot donuts made at the summit. Make sure to eat them at the top, because the altitude makes all the difference and they won’t be the same when you bring them down in elevation.
Rocky Mountain Lodge is only 10 minutes from the Cog Railway Train Depot. It’s been one of the most popular attractions in the Pikes Peak Region and we are thrilled it has reopened!
