These crispy, tender, melt in your mouth, Amish Sugar Cookies are a delight, and so easy to make! Depending on the size you make them, this single batch of cookies can make anywhere from 5-9 dozen cookies. I like to use a small cookie scoop, and it makes about 110 cookies! And you can make that many cookies in less than 1 hour!

This dough doesn’t require chilling, which makes them quick and easy to make.

And you can change up the color of sprinkles for different seasons. The main picture shows pastel sprinkles, perfect for spring or summer. And this picture shows red and green sprinkles, perfect for Christmas, or just red for Valentine’s.

Servings: 9-10 dozen

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened
  • 1 cup vegetable or canola oil
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup powdered (confectioners') sugar
  • 2 large eggs, room temperature
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 4 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. cream of tartar

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F.

  2. In a large bowl beat the butter and sugars. Add oil and beat until blended. Beat in the eggs just until well combined. Add vanilla.

  3. In a separate bowl sift together flour, baking soda and cream of tartar. Mix into wet ingredients just until blended.

  4. Drop by small spoonfuls, or use a cookie scoop (I like to use a small cookie scoop) onto ungreased baking sheets. Sprinkle with sugar sprinkles or vanilla sugar, if desired. Bake 8-10 minutes, until lightly browned on the edges. Remove to wire racks to cool.
